Georgia Sleepers Part 2
Atlanta, GA – Below you will find a list (part 2) of a few Georgia prospects who I have characterized as “sleepers”.
2019 point guard Jalen Harper – Pebblebrook High School (pictured above)
If you are familar with former Mabelton star Jared Harper, who is now the star at Auburn, then meet his little brother Jalen Harper. Jalen, to me, has been one of top under the radar guys here in the state of Georgia. His toughness and ability to make jump shots have been very intriguing in these last couple of years. Harper is coming into his senior year at powerhouse Pebblebrook and has improved tremondously since his freshman season. He shows some shades of a Jalen Brunson type point guard with his IQ on the floor and how he can take contact while finishing when attacking the rim. The 6-foot-0 point guard has expressed interest from Western Michigan, North Alabama, Morehead State, College of Charleston, Jacksonville State, and Tennessee State.
2020 point guard Deivon Smith – Grayson High School
Another young kid that I have been non stop bragging about all spring and summer is Deivon Smith. The 6-foot-0 point guard is another one of the top under the radar prospects that I think deserves more attention than he already has been given. Deivon had an outstanding spring/summer running with the Atlanta Celtics 16U squad in the Adidas Gauntlet. He earned his first division one offer from Old Dominion in that span and could be preparing to expect more. He has a surprising package of athleticism and is a very smart point guard. He can facilitate extremely well and makes getting to the basket easy at times for a kid his size. Smith will be looking to lead his Grayson High School squad to their third consecutive final four in Georgia’s class 7A division and possibly to the state title game.
2019 point guard Terrell Burden – Campbell High School
What a breakout junior year it was for the 5-foot-10 point guard Terrell Burden. After transferring from powerhouse McEachern, Terrell came into Campbell with no varisty experience at all. That all changed once he put on that Campbell Spartans uniform and at which he led Campbell in scoring and where he averaged about 18 points per game and led the Spartans to the elite 8. Burden is the definition of a tough point guard who can literally take contact when driving to the lane and finish at the rim. His quickness I believe is still underrated and he is a great defender with active hands. After running with Game Elite in the silver gauntlet, Terrell received his first offer from West Georgia but expressed interest from Charleston Southern, Middle Tennessee, and Georgia Southwestern.
2021 forward Cole Middleton – Pace Academy
The 6-foot-5 combo forward Cole Middleton is coming off a very impressive freshmen campaign and AAU season with Hype Hawks in the silver Adidas Gauntlet. Sitting at 6-foot-5 and with a great body frame, Cole has the ability to play the two, three, four, and at times the five position for his squad. He has extreme athleticism and good bounce off the floor. Middleton is a great rim protector and shows determination to block his opponents shots when their driving to the basket. When it is all said and done, I believe Cole can end up being like a Jordan Caroline, a star forward at Nevada. Cole has expressed interest from schools like Howard, Dartmouth, Mercer, Georgia State, and a few others so far.
