Five Facts About Max Nielson
Over the next few weeks, PHD will spotlight some players in South Dakota in our “Five Facts” series. Be sure to pay attention as there is an “alternative fact” in each story.
Max Nielson was one of the younger players on the Sioux Valley team last year, but that didn’t stop him from playing at a high level. He was a huge factor in the Cossacks making the state tournament last year. Not only didn’t he make the game-winning shot against Flandreau in the Regionals, it showed how well the team trusted him to take a shot like that. He has been lights out with the South Dakota Attack this past summer and will look to take that momentum into this coming season at Sioux Valley.

1) In middle school, Nielson had 48 points in three quarters in two different games.
2) He hates high tops with a passion
3) Nielson has taken five charges in his whole high school career.
4) The only AAU team Nielson has played for is the South Dakota Attack
5) Kobe’s are his go-to shoes.
Did you guess which one was the false one? It was number 3 … He is known for being a dynamic defender both on the half-court and picking people up full court. He did average 2.5 steals a game, but hasn’t taken very many charges in his high school career.
