Dionte Ware Recruiting Update (2019)
Dionte Ware is a player PrepHoopsTN has been tracking for over a year. Ware drew LM-MM Division I interest throughout the winter and spring. Cleveland High disappointingly missed out on the state playoffs even though they boasted a very strong 2017-2018 team.
Dionte Ware (PrepHoops #14) had a tough July because he was playing less than 100%. The explosion was not there. Defensively, he couldn’t move his legs fast enough. It hurt his recruiting profile as any observer assumed that Ware was this stiff forward that they were witnessing.
According to Cleveland High School Assistant Coach Reggie Tucker Dionte just wanted to be out there in July even though he was dealing with a severely sprained ankle. Ware figured it was better to be seen injured than not at all. Untimely injuries can have a debilitating effect on recruitments. Where is Dionte Ware’s recruitment now?
Idaho State, Texas Southern, Southern, Canisius, and Delta State reached out to Dionte Ware the first week of August.
Canisius offered Dionte Ware in June 2017. Arkansas State offered him in 2017 too, but has been more quiet and distant of late.
Redeeming Attributes
For Dionte Ware the month of July was kind of a waste. He didn’t garner the attention his game and name typically warrant, again because of the injury. What makes him a marketable college prospect?
Dionte Ware is 6-foot-4+ and projects as a wing. That is pretty nice size on the wing. He can play with speed when healthy. Ware draws a lot of fouls, which obviously puts pressure on the defense. Dionte Ware is a committed rebounder and understands how to be valuable to his team outside of scoring.
Due to his unfortunate July Dionte Ware will have to re-establish his skills and prove once again he belongs at a DI program.
