College Commitment: Izeah Parker & Jahdon Robinson (2019)
Hopewell’s Izeah Parker and Bendictine’s Jahdon Robinson, both of whom have just recently, ended their AAU careers with Team Loaded 757, have both committed to Coppin State University today. Coppin St, in Baltimore, Maryland, is a Division I school, of the MEAC conference. The Eagles are coached by former NBA player, Juan Dixon. Combined, Parker & Robinson, had over a double digit amount of offers, but both decide to make the Coppin St. decision, after a visit, this past weekend. With their AAU careers ending last weekend in Richmond, Virginia, at Team Loaded’s, “The Show,” and both expecting big senior year campaigns, here is it bit more on the two new commits.
Izeah Parker is a 6’7 F, at Hopewell High School. The Blue Devils, coached by Elvin Edmonds, went 22-4 this past season, and lost in the State Quaterfinals. But the Blue Devils have also lost 3 of their 4 leading scorers, in Jalen and Malik Jefferson (Mt. Saint Mary’s) and Faizon Taylor, so Parker, will be expected to take on a bigger role in his farewell tour. In his final AAU season, Parker picked up several offers, but felt as though the Coppin State Eagles would be the best option to continue his career. When I asked why he felt this way, it was simple for Izeah, a Maryland native. “Home is where the heart is.” Parker also commented on Juan Dixon and his coaching staff, saying, “The staff is on a level I have never experienced. They showed love. And made home feel even more like so.”
As for 6’5 SG, Jahdon Robinson, of Bendictine, the choice was always easy for him as well. Just gaining the Coppin State offer on June 26th, after a visit this past weekend, Robinson then decided, it was time to make his decision as well. Why? “It felt like home from the moment I walked in the gym. I feel like with the pieces coming in, we will be a dominant team in the MEAC by our (Parker) arrival in 2019. Robinson, who starred for the Bendictine Cadets this past season, averaged roughly 18ppg. This summer, Robinson began his final AAU run with Team Richmond, and completed it with Team Loaded 757.
Both Parker and Robinson, competed on a Team Loaded 757 16U roster, coached by Lamar Claiborne last season, and Robinson returned to compete with Parker and Coach Clay in this season’s AAU finale, “The Show.” Coppin State University and head coach, Juan Dixon, have also gained the commitment of 2018 Rocktop Academy’s, Justin Steers this week.
