The Sac-Joaquin section has a huge area of teams that all compete for playoff spots. The leagues within the section are very competitive, and there a lot of upcoming under the radar teams to keep an eye on for the 2018-2019 season.

1. Will C. Wood High School (Vacaville, CA)

Wood has been consistent for a long time in terms of making the postseason and winning their league. This year will be tough because Vanden high school will now be in their league. However, Wood still has a talented team that will be led by sophomore guard Jeremiah Jones. Expect Wood to still make a push for the postseason.

2. Central Catholic High School (Modesto, CA)

Central Catholic finished one game away from state last year as they had a great run during the playoffs. They will still be a powerhouse for division 3 this year and with the improvement of point guard Dayton Magana, Central Catholic will look to get to state this year.

3. Vanden High School (Fairfield, CA)

Vanden took a tough loss at home in the 2nd round of the playoffs, which left a tough feeling for the players and coaches. The Vikings will have a lot of key players returning and with the growth of 6’10’ forward Jhaylon Martinez, Vanden will look to make a state run.

4. Sheldon High School (Elk Grove, CA)

Sheldon had a great run last year and will look to repeat this year. They have a fun and energetic team due to their style of play, and they are well coached. Expect the same outcome from Sheldon this year as they also push for state.

5. Tracy High School (Tracy, CA)

Tracy finished the year 18-8 before losing to Woodcreek High School in the postseason. With the development of the players especially senior stud Isaiah Hawthorne, Tracy will look to make a huge run at a state title. They will get a chance to test their level of play during the preseason as they open up with James Logan.
