3 Teams to Watch this Season (4A)
There is a ton of talent in Arizona, with a lot of great teams out there. However, these are the top three teams you need to watch this season:
Shadow Mountain – This seems like an obvious decision. Shadow Mountain has won three state championships in a row and are on a mission to make it four in a row. Not only have they won, but it’s how the team plays. They play fast, quick, and in a hurry. Their defensive rotations are elite and they cause a lot of problems for opposing offenses. Shadow Mountain has the best back-court in the state if their dominance wasn’t enough of a draw for you. Jaelen House and Jovan Blacksher are two of AZ’s best players, with House committing to ASU and Blackshear making his final decision very soon. This team is a must watch in the 2018-2019 season.
Salpointe Catholic – Salpointe had the Cinderella run in last year’s state tournament. This season, no one will underestimate them. Salpointe is on a mission to dethrone Shadow Mountain and this mission is led by Majok Deng and Evan Nelson. This team also did not lose very many players from last season, look for them to make it back to the state championship game.
Buckeye – Buckeye is a very talented team. Otis Frazier and Zay On-Ty Boothman are always impressive and both had great summers. I expect them to be even better than they were last year. Last season they lost to Salpointe in the Semi-Finals in OT. You definitely need to watch these guys this year!
