2021 F Camden Easley talks move to OCP, progression and more
The new look Orlando Christian Prep has a young forward to build around.
2021 forward Camden Easley transferred from East River to Orlando Christian Prep for his sophomore season. The 6’8″, 185-pounder will help the back to back Class 3A state champions stay afloat following the transfer of 2019 forward CJ Walker to Oak Ridge.
Easley says the move to Orlando Christian Prep was about both academics and athletics.
“OCP has an excellent athletic program and I needed to improve working with better, bigger and more experienced players at this level to improve my game,” Easley told Prep Hoops. “I felt that the OCP program under coach Treig Burke with his experience of training athletics getting to the next level had everything I needed if you put the work and dedication to the game.”
No offers have come yet for the 2021 prospect, but he’s drawn interest from the likes of Kansas State, Wake Forest and Coastal Carolina.
Easley started the entire season as a freshman at East River. He talked about what that experience meant to him.
“One of the greatest feelings I had is when I made the game-winning shot at the buzzer to beat University HS by one point. The experience of the fully packed gym running onto the floor is something I will never forget,” he said. “I improved my inside game and it taught me how to be a better leader at the high school level. Also, playing with other upperclass athletes made me learn the game better since I was the tallest and youngest player on the East River varsity team.”
Easley has spent the last two years with E1T1 playing for coach Donovan (Redden) and Dwayne (Smith), two guys he calls excellent coaches.
He pointed to his biggest strengths as his agility, quickness on both ends, offensive/defensive rebounding and shot blocking. Easley says he’s looking to improve his jumper, upper body strength and free throw percentage.
A true student of the game, Easley transformed his success this summer with an athletic E1T1 group. The relocation to Orlando Christian Prep will put him in the spotlight more and he could very well end up as the team’s leading scorer as a true inside presence. Easley is a player to watch.
