2019 : Sharp Shooters
Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the best Sharp Shooters in the Palmetto State from the 2019 Class.
Mike Green – Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach
Green is already the All-Time Leading Scorer in school history for the Saints. Green enters the season with 1,726 career points. Green a left-handed guard connected 50% (92-183) from behind the three point line last season. Green has made 260 three pointers in his high school career. Green picked up scholarship offers from Charlotte and USC-Upstate this spring and summer. Green ran on the Grassroots circuit the Georgia Stars.
Trey Smith – Landrum HS
Smith is set to take a official visit to Delta State (MS) (NCAA D2) according to his father / coach Lyn Smith on September 7-9. Smith averaged 28 ppg last season for the Cardinals. Smith enters his senior season with 2,033 career points and 270 three pointers made. Coker College (SC), Southern Wesleyan (SC), Limestone (SC) ,Flagler
and Lincoln Memorial (TN) all have interest in Smith according to his father.
Davis Guyton – Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach
Guyton 6’5 plays out on the wing a lot with his soft hands and even softer touch. Guyton connected on 37% (74-201) from three point range last season. Guyton averaged 12.1 ppg for the Saints last year. Guyton and Green should form a solid 1-2 combo for Head Coach Colin Stevens and the Saints this year in the SCISA ranks. Guyton played with Manzer Basketball Academy this Grassroots season.
Caleb Leverette – South Aiken Baptist (pictured on front)
Leverette plays at a small SCISA 1-A school in the western part of the Palmetto State. Leverette 6’3 is a slender-sleek athlete who ran the Grassroots circuit with the Southern Kings. Leverette averaged 27.4 this season while connecting on 38% (70-184) from downtown.
Traye Carson – Westside HS (Anderson)
Carson has already committed to play at West Point Army next season. Carson averaged 17.8 ppg last season for Westside HS. Carson played this summer with Team South Carolina on the Grassroots circuit.
Khalil Stringer – Broome HS (Spartanburg)
Stringer 5’11 plays at one of the forgotten schools in Spartanburg at Broome HS. Stringer scores the ball in many ways for the Centurions. Stringer led the Centurions last season with a 17.7 ppg. Stringer plays with the South Carolina Heat on the Grassroots circuit.
Mason Carver – Lexington HS
Carver averaged 16.2 ppg last season. Carver 6’1 plays with Team South Carolina Gray in the summer time. Carver has a sweet looking stroke and at times is a bit passive. I would like to see him get a little bit more greedy at times.
