2019 F Tristan Pratt discusses move from Colorado to Florida, recruitment and more
At one point, Tristan Pratt was committed to Northern Colorado.
The 2019 forward has since de-committed and moves down to Florida to play at Western. He spent his time previously at Colorado Park Vista.
He battled through an ankle injury for much of his junior season. Pratt says it was a year to forget and his team didn’t play to the level they needed to alongside his nagging ankle issue.
At 6’5″, 190 lbs., Pratt has drawn interest from FGCU, St. Louis, Western Kentucky and Northern Colorado.
He says he moved to Florida because he saw an opportunity to play for a really good school and for a really good coach. He’ll get to play alongside G Damari Monsanto, the No. 18th ranked player in the state who recently transferred to Western as well.
“I heard that coach (Kenneth) Kelly would push me to be successful in school and basketball,” Pratt told Prep Hoops.
Kelly is very excited to have Pratt at his disposal this season.
“Tristan brings to us a big-time athlete and competitor on both ends of the floor. Because of his size and length, he can guard multiple positions and is a high level rebounder from the wing spot,” Kelly told Prep Hoops. “His offensive skill allows him to play both guard and forward positions.
…”More importantly, he is naturally a leader and pushes his teammates to get the most out of them. Paired along side Damari (Monsanto), he and Tristan will feed off each other. It’s tough to help off of Damari which will give Tristan some driving lanes. And at the same time, Tristan can make plays for Damari. They will push each other every day to bring out their best.”
This summer, Pratt suited up for The Force. He said it went very well.
He alluded to his top strengths as his leadership, athletic ability and focus level. Pratt says he wants to improve his court vision and mid-range shooting percentage.
“I’m just excited to start practicing with my teammates. Also, I can not wait to get in the gym with the coaching staff and especially coach Raja Bell.,” Pratt told Prep Hoops. “To work every day with a coach who played the position I am trying to play, at the highest level, is an opportunity not many high school players get.”
Pratt brings a new dynamic to Western as he’s able to attack, show off his dynamic value. His length, confidence and scoring ability gives him a chance to be really sound for the Wildcats during his senior campaign.
