As we start the new 2018-2019 school year the clock has officially turned for the recent 2018 high school graduates. With the 2018 athletes moving on to college there are a few incoming freshmen that will be looking to make a huge impact at the junior college level. These players will use the junior college level to get their degree and improve their stock for earning a scholarship at the four year level. Here are a few class of 2018 players to keep an eye on at the junior college level.
1. Malik Ghiden – College of Marin 6’3′ SG
Ghiden was a great athlete at the high school level as he also won MVP of the Solano County Athletic Conference. He is expected to have a big role with Coach Scott Thom with the Mariners. Ghiden received offers from Prep Schools and Pacific Union College but will look to improve his stock more at the JC level.
2. Franco Barefield – College of Marin 5’8′ PG
Barefield’s stock really rose during his senior year with De Anza High School. He is a tough point guard who can play both ends and can also score with the ball. Barefield can be a hot Juco prospect.
3. Cole Cummings – Miramar College 6’7′ Wing
Cummings is a very skilled wing with a high basketball IQ. His strength will need to improve but his skill set is very high and he can end up being a really good college player.
4. Marquis Davison – Mesa College 6’5′ SG
Marquis is an incredible athlete with amazing jumping ability. He has an opportunity to develop into a division 1 player once he puts the time in at Mesa. He runs the floor well and his jumpshot has improved over the past year.
5. Jalen Scott – Clark College 6’3 SG
Scott is another player who broke through the scene hard during his senior year. He won MVP of his conference and will look to carry that over into his juco experience.
