Weekend Recap: Team Results for the Final Live Period
The final July recruiting period has ended, the players are off the road and the college coaches have returned back to campus. Here’s a look at how Kentucky teams fared in the final AAU tournaments of the season.

The Louisville Magic played in the Derby city at the Louisville Jam Fest. They went 2-1 in pool play and fell to the Gold bracket where they won 2 games to win the Gold Bracket Championship. Scotty Draud had a strong weekend for the Magic and TJ Toney
The Derby City Cardinals went 1-2 in pool play which dropped them to the “silver championship” where they won their one consolation game.
The Louisville Prospects went 2-1 in pool play and advanced to the Gold bracket. They fell to the Magic in the semifinals.
Charlotte Court – Smith struggled to 0-3 in their pool but bounced back to win a consolation game on Sunday.
M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs won their pool with a 3-0 record and advanced to Platinum bracket play where they lost to eventual Champions G3 Grind. Grind features Kentuckians Jaden Rogers and Darrius Washington.
Kentucky Thunder’s only loss in the pool play was to M.A.T.T.S. by a point. They moved on to the gold bracket where the Prospects knocked them off.
Shining Stars – Harris went 0-4 on the weekend as they struggled in their pool and lost to Charlotte Court by 16 in their consolation game.
Kentucky Ambition ended up 1-1 and pool and also lost a showcase game. They lost their gold bracket opener to Garner Road by 13. Baylor Mattingly had a couple of high scoring games over the weekend.
Starz United went 0-2 in their pool and their consolation game has no score on it.
Charlotte Court 15u played at AAU Super Showcase and went 1-2 in their pool but ended up winning the Copper Bracket in Orlando after running off 3 wins.
Hoop Dreams played in Orlando where they went 2-3.
Manimal Elite also played in Orlando where they went 7-1 over the course of the week. A strong showing for one of the state’s top 2021 teams.
16u:
M.A.T.T.S Mustangs won their “super pool” with a 2-1 record and holding the tie breaker. They lost in the opening round of the Platinum Bracket. Dayvion McKnight and Marcellus Vail had good weekends.
Kentucky Knights stumbled to 1-2 in their pool but did win their consolation game to finish 2-2.
Charlotte Court – Hudson went 0-3 in pool play and there is no result posted for their consolation game on Sunday.
Iam3rd Ice had a strong weekend after winning their pool at 3-0 and winning their first platinum bracket game before falling to eventual champion Mid Ohio Pumas. Brayden Sebastian had a strong weekend for the Ice.
Kentucky Vision went 2-1 in pool with their only loss to the Ice. They won a game in the Gold bracket before falling in the Gold semifinals.
HLB Basketball out of Louisville went 0-3 in pool play and there is no result posted for their consolation game.
Louisville Prospects went 2-1 in their pool to advance to the Gold bracket but fell in the first game of the bracket play.
Kentucky Pressure limped to a 1-2 record in their pool and lost their consolation game by two.
Kentucky Defenders went to Las Vegas and played in the Fab 48. They won their pool before losing to Team Lillard in bracket play. Trevon Harris had a strong showing out in the desert.
Cky Magic – Morton won their pool and beat Team Charlotte in the opening round of bracket play before ultimately losing in the second round of tournament play at the AAU super showcase in Orlando.
Cky Magic – Green were 1-2 in their pool in Orlando and it’s unclear how bracket play went as the AAU app is malfunctioning.
17u:
The Ville 17u went 2-1 in pool play games in Orlando at the Super Showcase but it’s unclear how they faired in bracket play.
M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs went 5-1 on the weekend and lost the Platinum championship game to EG10 Gold in Louisville. Dontaie Allen and Dieonte Miles had big weekends for the Mustangs.
Louisville Magic went 0-3 in their pool but wound up winning the Gold Championship with 3 wins on Sunday. Mainly 16u players, Noah Courtney and Keaton Simpson played very well on the weekend.
Kentucky Vision went 2-1 in pool play and advanced to the South Gold Championship where they lost in the semifinals after winning a game to get there.
Charlotte Court – Ivory was 1-2 in the pool and won their consolation game to finish the weekend at .500.
Louisville Spartans also went 1-2 in pool play but lost to Charlotte Court in the consolation game.
Kentucky Royals were 1-2 in pool and lost a bracket game on Sunday.
Starz United went 1-1 in their pool and won a tiebreaker to move to the South Gold Championship where they won a game before falling to the Kentucky Vision.
Manimal Elite went to Orlando where they finished 2-4 while playing top notch competition.
Hoop Dreams also went to Orlando where they went 1-4 on the week.
NKY Force went a combined 5-2 in the two stages of the Myrtle Beach event run by Big Shots.
