Derrin Boyd 6’2″ SI Select 17U
The smooth 2019 point guard from Caldwell County (KY) was on point all weekend in leading SI Select to the 17U championship. The lefty was dropping 3-pointers from everywhere during the tournament. When he wasn’t dropping 3s, he was displaying his excellent handles and passing skills. He could penetrate and locate the open man with several no-look dimes that were nice.
C.J. Givens 6’3″ FreshSkillz Comrades Elite 17U
The thick bodied 2019 shooting guard from Flint, MI led his team to the 17U championship game with an excellent array of offensive skills. He was one of the most impressive perimeter shooters in the tournament with a high-arching 3-pointer that brought rain and buckets. He wasn’t just limited to the 3-pointer as his ability to get buckets at all three levels made him difficult to guard throughout the weekend.
Jarquavious Cain 6’5″ All Arkansas Red 17U
The athletic 2019 small forward from Nettleton (AR) was a beast all weekend long with his athleticism and high motor, which was on full tilt in every game. He rebounded well at both ends, ran the court hard in transition and challenged many shots around the paint. He was also a solid ball handler who could score on the drive and had a nice step-back jumper in the mid range area. Loved his high energy.
Malik Cartwright 6’6″ All Arkansas Red 17U
An explosive jumping jack 2019 combo forward from Clarendon High (AR) who played above the rim throughout the weekend. He displayed a nice shooting touch around the basket, plus a very quick second jump on the offensive glass for easy buckets. He is a solid ball handler who wasn’t afraid to grab the rebound and take it out on the break himself.
James Williams 6’4″ TN Vision 16U
An athletic 2020 wing player who led the Tennessee Vision to the championship of the 16U division. He displayed a great knack of getting buckets at all sorts of different angles. He could attack the basket and twist and turn and find a way to put the ball in the basket. He has good size and strength to take the contact and be a productive scorer in traffic.
Mike Wallace 6’4″ Team Tae 16U
A robust skilled small forward from Nashville, TN who led Team Tae to the 16U championship. He physical strength and versatile skill set makes him a very difficult player to match up with. He can post up, attack the offensive boards and put the ball on the floor to get buckets at the rim. He also displayed a solid perimeter shooting touch when facing bigger players.
