Triangle Challenge Championship Game Top 5 Performers
Broughton HS & Teen Center 2019 Guard DJ Thomas: The saying ‘‘Heart over Height’’ describes him perfectly, he was one of the smaller players on the court but had one of the larger impacts on the game. The lefty got just about wherever he wanted on the court and followed up a 37 point performance in the Semis with an impressive showing in the Championship game.
Trinity Christian & Teen Center 2019 Guard DJ Horne: His game reminds me of a smaller version of Antonio Blakeney, he is wired to score and can shot the ball very well from all over the court. From the beginning of the game he was on fire and wouldn’t cool off much throughout the night as he would finish with close to 40 points.
Trinity Christian & Teen Center 2020 Forward Todd Burtt: There is plenty to like about what he can possibly bring to the table with his size and versatility. At 6’7 he can play multiple positions on the floor but mainly was used as a stretch forward during this matchup. The numbers he put up wont jump out at you but his overall impact was obvious and has to excited you about what he could possibly bring to the table.
Team Wall & Durham Academy 2022 Wing MJ Rice: His potential is absolutely scary, for a player at such a young age, he is already advance skillset wise and size wise as he is 6’5 ish with a solid frame. The ability that he has to score the ball is evident but he doesn’t allow that to be the only way that he can impact the game.
Team Wall & Athens Drive 2019 Guard DJ Robertson: One of the quicker end to end guards that we saw throughout the night, he is a tough player to keep in front of you with a head full of steam. The next step in his progression will be to be able to be as dominate in a slower pace of game and looking to facilitate a bit more. Overall he was solid and is still getting comfortable with being back on the court after being out month with a broken wrist.
