Top Rebounders from the Summer Challenge
The prospects below battled it out for rebounds out weekend long. From the players, I saw here are the top rebounders.
Daniel Peterson 2020 Nova Cavaliers Forward
Peterson was fantastic around the rim for the Nova Cavaliers. The young man has an edge to his game that allows him to be successful battling down low. He has decent height around 6’5 with a skinny rail frame. The fight and heart he brings to the court make up for what he lacks in strength. Peterson is a player you enjoy watching wit the energy he brought to the boards.
Connor Davis 2021 H.I.T. Basketball Wing
Davis was excellent at tracking down boards using his 6’3 frame to fend off the opposing team. He was super active on both ends of the court that led to him pulling down many boards. He also scored the ball quite well. He has one of the best Sundays of any 15U prospect.
Kyler Filewich 2020 Team Manitoba Post
Filewich is a man amongst boys on the low block. At 6’8 he pulled down many rebounds using his frame and strength in the paint. He made his presence known by constantly boxing out and battling for every single rebound. Filewich was also playing up an age.
Deshaun English II 2019 Victory Ministry Wing
At 6’6 as a true Wing, English crashed the boards hard. On Victory Ministry, English is the tallest player. They rebound well as a whole unit, but with English being the tallest even though he is a Wing it is on him to lead the squad in rebounding. He did just that this weekend answering the call to run down big boards.
Tre’Shaun Jones 2019 Rockford 5-0 Jones Post
Jones made presence known in the paint on both ends early and often. At 6’7 with great bounce Jones rose up for boards and did a great job of securing them with two hands. On defense due to his shock blocking skills he at times slaps the ball conveniently to his teammates. He will make a good small college big.
Connor McCance 2020 Breakaway Basketball Post
McCance seemed to be the guy each time Breakaway needed to clear the boards that came up with the big rebound inside. In games where he was outmatched by height, athleticism, or strength he found ways to grind out rebounds.
