Top Performers: Prime Event Boys National Showcase (Day 1)
The Prime Event Boys National Showcase kicked off at the Orange County Convention Center.
Here’s a look at the best performances I saw on Wednesday evening.
Taylor Trudeau (Mount Dora Christian/Heart N Hustle)
It was a fine outing for 2019 6’3″ Mount Dora Christian guard Taylor Trudeau. The sharpshooter was doing more than just hitting jumpers. Trudeau attacked the rim more often than not and pushed the ball in sets for his team.
Gob Gabriel (New Hampshire Bradford Christian/DC Blue Devils)
There are endless reasons why Gob Gabriel has earned several low Division I offers. The 6’7″ wing can really hurt defenses with his outside touch. His length is dangerous as he approaches the cup and gets down the floor in a hurry.
Christian Shaneyfelt (Lakewood Ranch/SEBA)
Battling an illness over the past week or so, 2020 6’6″ Lakewood Ranch guard/forward Christian Shaneyfelt is finally back to his normal self. He was doing his usual, cutting and driving while also shooting well from the mid-range and deep.
Nate Tabor (New York Our Savior New American/NY Renaissance)
On a towering NY Renaissance unit, 2020 Our Savior forward Nate Tabor finds a way to be noticed throughout games. The 6’6″ forward is thickly built in his upper body and he can power by defenders like a running back. Tabor has plenty of skills with the ball in his hands.
Ta’Lon Cooper (South Carolina Spartanburg/Upward Stars)
In the finale on the night, Ta’lon Cooper made his presence known as the most consistent and athletic threat in the game. The 6’1″ Spartanburg point guard likes to set up his teammates before scoring himself. However, when he needs to create for himself, he does and he is certainly crafty as an attacker.
