Charlotte Aces win the Future 150 Crown
The Charlotte Aces are having an outstanding season in the travel basketball circuit. Last weekend the Aces won the Future 150 AAU tournament in Charlotte. Coached by long-time coach Kevin Ligon, the Aces defeated Rock Nation, the L & L Rebels from Pennsylvania and EA Sports, of Charlotte in winning the tourney crown.
In the championship game, it was the Charlotte Aces 57 and EA Sports Sports 42.
Myles Hunter led the way with 15 posts, including three treys. DayJuwan Cooke joined Hunter in double figures with ten points. Derrick Butler and Chris Hill added seven and six points respectively.
Hunter led the Aces with 23 points in their semifinal win. The sweet shooting 6-5 wing hit five treys in the 72-62 win.
The Aces, who led 39-34 at the half got good contributions from Derrick Butler, a 6-2 guard and Cooke, a 6-5 forward, who scored 16 points each. Tim Smith, a 6-6 215 forward, scored all eight of his points in the first half.
The Aces coasted in their initial game, behind balanced scoring. Cheik Traore and Brett Swilling led the way for the winners with 12 points each.
Cheik Traore, at 6-8 230 is a force in the middle for the defensive minded Aces.
Myles Hunter and John Heath were also in double figures with 10 points each.
