This post had a very productive showing at Summer Jam. The Illinois Wolves power forward has received initial interest from Liberty, Miami (OH), and Northern Illinois.
Will Wolfe (Aurora Christian)
Wolfe is a versatile wing for the Illinois Wolves 16U squad. Lipscomb, Holy Cross, and Northern Illinois have all reached out. No offers at this point for Wolfe.
Destin Whitaker (Romeoville)
Whitaker interest from Tulsa, Western Illinois, Illinois State, DePaul, and UIC. He has offers from UIC and DePaul. He spoke about what he likes about UIC, “It is close to home and they have a nice environment. Playing in my hometown and I love the coaching staff.” On DePaul, “Same way. Coach Tim (Anderson) is my boy. We go way back. It is a nice environment.” Whitaker would like to visit Tulsa, Western Illinois, and Illinois State in the fall.
Martice Mitchell (Bloom)
Miami (OH), Tulsa, Valpo, Illinois State, and more have been in contact with this Bloom big man. He reports offers from Illinois State and St. Louis. He broke down SLU saying, “I like how it is a mid-major plus school. I am supposed to be going down to see it soon, but everyone says it is nice.”
Nate Santos (Loomis Chaffee, CT)
The former Geneva wing who has reclassified to 2021 holds offers from Creighton, UW-Milwaukee, and Drake. On Creighton he said “I like their style of play. I know they use big wings and are fast paced with how they play.” When it comes to UW-Milwaukee, “They said I can be a versatile wing and they like big guards.”
Tevin Smith (Danville)
Butler, Oregon, Purdue, Marquette, Illinois State, and Indiana are monitoring the progress of one of the state’s top 2021 prospects. UT-Martin is his only offer at this stage.
Isaiah Barnes (OPRF)
Barnes scored an offer from UW-Milwaukee during the second live period. Also has offers from Detroit and UIC. He told us what stands out about UIC, “I love Coach Dee Brown. I feel like he pushes his players. My brother went there too.” Barnes also has interest from Stanford and Northern Illinois. One of the highest ceilings of any wing in the 2021 class.
Anthony Sayles (Niles Notre Dame)
The state’s top 2021 point guard was offered a scholarship by UW-Milwaukee during the second live period at Summer Jam. Sayles went on a pair of unofficial visits during June to Illinois and Purdue. On the Illinois visit he said, “Campus was great. Facility and coaches. I liked all of it.” What about Purdue? “Pretty much the same. Everybody having good competition. The coaches and players were friendly.”
