SEMO Elite Camp (2019 Standouts)
Prep Hoops Missouri spent part of the weekend at the Southeast Missouri State University Elite Camp in Cape Girardeau, MO. Here is a look at the top Class of 2019 standouts from the camp.
Marque English 6’6″ Link Year
The Pittsburg, KS native will be doing a year of prep at Link Year in ’19. He was the top offensive player at the camp by far. He was a consistent bucket throughout the day and he did it from all three levels. He has good size and strength, which enabled him to power to the basket for easy layups. He also knocked down mid-range jumpers and 3-pointers at a consistent rate. He projects to be a Division I prospect.
Donovan Clay 6’6″ Alton (IL)
The long and athletic wing player is very skilled in so many facets of the game and he is still coming into his own as a player. He also continues to grow as he appears to be approaching 6’7. He is an excellent facilitator with his ball handling, passing ability and high basketball IQ. He can score around the basket and knock down jumpers. His ceiling is very high because he is still getting better.
Malek Davis 5’11” Cardinal Ritter
I was very impressed with the tempo he played at in the game I watched Malek. He was pushing the ball at every opportunity and his team dominated in the transition game. He got things going with three consecutive transition layups in the first game, then he followed up with a number of 3-pointers. He showed solid playmaking skills while still making shots.
Treye Tucker 5’9″ Machesney Park (IL)
The little guard from the Chicago area was one of the premier perimeter shooters in the entire camp. His shooting range was when he entered the Show-Me Center. He was knocking down jumpers from well behind the 3-point line and he even pulled up from the Redhawks logo near mid-court a couple of times. He’s quick and he moves up and down the court with good pace.
Ray Adams 6’3″ Webster Groves
It didn’t take long for the talented wing to showcase his shooting chops as he made three consecutive 3-pointers in the opening game of the camp. He didn’t stop there as he also showed the ability to move without the basketball as he scored on several for easy layups. He will also get it going off the dribble a little bit.
Isaiah Ervin 6’2″ Hazelwood Central
The long and lanky shooting guard displayed his impressive offensive package. He is a solid perimeter shooter off the catch, but he is even better at knocking down jumpers off the dribble when he can create space with nice escape moves. After spending his first three years as a small-school standout at Alton Marquette (IL), he will be at Hazelwood Central for his senior year.
Kinyon Hodges 6’2″ Cape Girardeau Central
A very explosive wing player who plays much, much bigger than his actual size. He got everyone’s attention when he threw down a couple of two-handed tip dunks, one in transition and one in the half court. He is an impressive slasher who gets to the basket and can create buckets off the dribble.
