Recruiting Report: Trey Brock (2020)
Trey Brock is a name that not a whole lot of folks have heard before the past 6 months or so. That has changed as both basketball fans and college coaches have started to hear about Trey’s exploits as a high flying dunker from Bell County. Just this past weekend at the Next Up Recruits camp, Brock surprised many in attendance with several dunks and showcased his athleticism and high release on his jump shot. Trey describes himself, “I’m a slasher who tries to get to the rim and I’m also good at shooting threes. My biggest strength is my athletic ability. Being athletic makes me more able to crash the boards and play good on ball defense. I need to keep working to improve my handles and my pull up jumper.”
Trey is spending his AAU season playing with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs after playing his 15u season for B. Maze Elite in Tennessee last year. Brock said of his AAU experience so far, “The season has went really well so far and I’ve gotten a lot of exposure and experience.” Trey is also getting attention from several colleges, “Schools that have contacted me so far have been NKU, Miami (Ohio), Cleveland State, Wright State and Liberty University.” Brock is early in the recruiting process but is starting to get an idea of what he’s looking for at the next level, “I’m looking for a college with good academics, nice campus facilities and a great atmosphere.”
Brock is looking forward to his junior season at Bell County after his Sophomore year was hampered by a broken wrist caused by being undercut on a dunk attempt. His experience with AAU has taught him “the importance of playing as a team every possession and playing as hard as you can go every play.” With his high hopes for his Junior year come high expectations, “My goals for next high school season is to average 20 points per game and to get 10 rebounds a game. My main goal is to win district and to win region to play the state tournament.” Trey is about to embark on a big July of AAU and could emerge with his first offer. Regardless of how July AAU goes, Trey will look to make a major impact in the 13th region over the next two seasons and help guide his team to Rupp Arena.
