Recruiting Report: Sam Schultz (2020)
Oswego East 2020 post Sam Schultz saw his stock rise in the spring and continued that in July. This power forward has a nice combination of strength and mobility at the four spot. Pick and pop player that can stretch the floor, but was more about his rebounding and transition play when we saw him. Schultz has very strong hands which help him grab boards in traffic away from opponents. High level rebounder. Runs the floor tremendously well, but also proved he could take it on his own going coast to coast for a score.
How was his sophomore season?
“Very good year. We won 20 games and lost in the regional final to Joliet Central. We got Demari (Grant) this year. We are ready for a power year this upcoming season.”
Oswego East could be one of the best teams in the area next season. How did it go in June preparing for the upcoming season?
“It went pretty good. We were a little rusty at the start trying to get clicking as a team. Toward the middle of June we started clicking and winning a lot of games.”
Schultz spoke about his versatility as a player.
“I can take you inside or outside. I like to start outside and when the defender gets in on me I will go in more and post up. I think I am a hard guard when I am feeling in it.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“Washington State, Southern Illinois, Wisconsin Green Bay, and Wisconsin Milwaukee are the most interested. I got texts from Holy Cross and talk to Miami (OH) a lot.”
