Recruiting Report: Mitch Mascari (2019)
After watching Geneva 2019 shooting guard Mitch Mascari during the July live period we clearly have him too low in the rankings. We hadn’t seen the Geneva shooting guard play in a while. He has gotten taller and a lot stronger since we last saw him. He is a smooth scoring wing that likes to attack off the bounce and score on athletic drives to the cup. Converted some tough layups. Moves well without the ball including getting a bucket on a back cut. Jump shot has a chance to be a weapon, but was inconsistent when we saw him.
How was his junior season at Geneva?
“It went pretty well. We were a really young team having only one senior that actually played. We had a bunch of guys trying to play their role and making an impact on the team. Next year I think we will be really good. The whole team is basically returning. I think I played pretty well. I could have led better and did the little things better, but overall I think I did well.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“It has picked up a lot since the spring. I got an offer from Quincy and St. Cloud State. I have been talking to Furman. Lewis was at a practice. Winona State has been talking to me. I have been talking to D2s and D1s.”
What stands out about Quincy?
“They have been texting me a lot. I like their coaches a lot. They seem like a fun coaching staff.”
St. Cloud State is also making a run at him.
“I went down to their elite camp. It was a cool gym and their coaches were fun. They all had good personalities and easy to bond with.”
He says he would like to get out to Furman, Quincy, and back to St. Cloud State for visits. Since the first live period where he had a strong showing at the Next Level Invitational he added offers from Concordia St. Paul, Northern Michigan, UW-Parkside, and Benedictine.
