Recruiting Report: Jacob Robinson (2019)
Jacob Robinson hopes for a big July and an even bigger Senior season in the 7th region. After being the leading scorer for Eastern last season, he hopes for an even stronger campaign. Last season Robinson made the 7th region all tournament team and was named first team all district. Jacob recognizes his strengths and areas for growth, “My strength is being a productive point guard. I take pride in making others around me better. I can also knock down shots and get a bucket when needed. I also take a lot of pride in my defense. I need to improve my jumping and finishing around the rim.”
Jacob has spent his 17u season playing with The Ville and he was having a strong season before the injury bug hit, “My AAU season was going really well until I got a concussion in a tournament in Atlanta.” Now that he’s back and healthy, Robinson is hoping his recruitment takes off in his final month of AAU, “My recruiting process is kinda slow right now but I’m hoping it’ll pick up in July, I have been to Lincoln Memorial University, Bellarmine, Florida Southern, and some other D2 and low major D1 schools.” Playing with the Ville has helped Jacob elevate his game. “What I am going to take from this AAU season is being able to score around the rim, over big post players. I don’t have a problem beating my man but I do sometimes find myself struggling to finish over the big guys.”
Coming off a Junior year where Jacob averaged 13 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while leading a relatively young Eastern team, Robinson is hoping to take his game to another level and make a push towards being 7th region player of the year and try to lead his team to Rupp Arena. If Jacob and fellow senior Ethan Coury can elevate their games this season, Eastern may be a darkhorse pick to win the 7th Region.
