Recruiting Report: DeAndre Henry (2020)
Recently, we ran an article on Khalid Price, a prospect who will play a key role in Mountain Pointe’s success this upcoming season. In addition to Price, Jalen Graham is another household name in the Arizona ranks who will most likely lead Mountain Pointe in an array of categories.
While these two are more notable within the Arizona basketball season, hoops junkies have been watching the progression of DeAndre Henry DeAndre Henry 6'7" | PF Phhoenix Prep | 2020 State #287 Nation AZ . Henry, a 6’8 2020 C, and Graham have the potential to partner up as one of the top front courts in the entire state.
While Graham has been receiving NCAA Division-I offers like it is going out of style recently, Henry has continued to put his nose to the ground as he attempts to transition from being an elite football player to making a name for himself on the basketball court.
Needless to say, in the ever competitive 6A ranks, Henry will need to continue to progress and play huge minutes for the team if they hope to make it back to the state championship.

During the off-season, Henry plays with Team Harden’s 16U group, which has been one of the top 16U teams in the nation as well as in the state. Henry has played a key role in this due to his physical style of play.
His strong build and bully mentality have earned him plenty of interest but no offers at this time. Some of the schools he claims he has received interest from are the following: “NAU, Colorado State, and Fullerton.” Further, he stated other schools had expressed interest in him as well.
In terms of what he is looking for in a school, he stated a “good vibe with the time and good attitudes so we can build a brotherhood.” Moreover, he noted that he is looking for a program that has a coaching staff that is extremely invested. Lastly, he is looking for a campus that is a good fit for his interests.
While his recruitment is picking up, Henry is not sure at this point as to what he is looking to major in. However, he plans on bringing whichever program he signs with a prospect who is a hardworker with “crazy work ethic.” Also, he brings “a good attitude” and a selfless mentality in which he puts the needs of the team above his own.

At this point, Henry is best suited for a low NCAA Division-I. However, he noted that he is putting an immense amount of effort into transitioning from a 4/5 to a 2/3.
If he is able to expand his game and be more of a true 4 or even be able to market himself as a 3, his stock will sky rocket. In order to do that, his decision making, ball handing, and shooting will need to get more consistent.
Henry’s biggest strength at this point is that, his strength. He is able to move prospects off of their spots and dictate the paint. He is wide and has grown which will aid his marketability to a next level suitor. Further, he plays hard and has a decent motor.
