Recruiting Report: Darius Maddox (2020)
Darius Maddox, a class of 2020 shooting guard out of St. John’s College High School, is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the area’s top college prospects. This comes after a consistently strong run of play over the past several months. Maddox discussed his overall game and recruitment in a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
DM: “I feel that I am an unselfish player, but I also have the ability to score at all three levels. I also know the right times to get the ball out of my hands if my teammates are cutting or running the floor.”
PH: What is the most underrated part of your game?
DM: “The most underrated part of my game is definitely my defense. Most people think that because score the ball frequently that I am lazy, but each year I improve my defense and defensive IQ.”
PH: What are you looking to improve?
DM: “Im definitely looking to improve my body and how I come off screens with or without the ball in my hands.”
PH: How are your grades looking?
DM: “I have a 3.0 GPA.”
PH: Which schools do you currently have offers from?
DM: “I have offers from UMass, VCU, Rhode Island, GW, George Mason, and La Salle.”
PH: What schools have you heard from that haven’t offered you yet?
DM: “I’ve heard from Syracuse, Illinois State, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, Creighton, West Virginia, Clemson and Temple.”
PH: What do you hope to accomplish this month?
DM: “This month I want to win peach jam first and foremost. I also want Team Durant to dominate all events we are in. I want to myself and my teammates to show we can compete with the best talent.”
