Recruiting Report: Chris Conway (2020)
Naperville Central power forward Chris Conway is among the most intriguing 2020 posts in the state. He has all the tools with a skilled offensive game and he put that on display when we saw him with ET21 Buckeyes in July. Screen and roll, quick post moves, and takes from the mid-post. Defensively he was a monster blocking shots and protecting the rim over and over again! Great timing. Defends in ball screens switching onto guards.
Conway chatted with PHI about his sophomore campaign.
“It was really good. It was my first year on varsity so it was a learning experience. It really set me up for my junior and senior seasons. I was playing spot minutes because we had a really good center in Ben Wolf.”
What did he learn from the senior big man?
“Definitely his aggressiveness. He is never afraid to take a shot. Trying to dominate every time.”
Where has he seen improvements in his game?
“Confidence and my overall trying to score. Sometimes I would be timid, but I think I have improved that.”
Conway spoke about what he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I think I am pretty versatile. I can shoot and post up. Give a good look on defense.”
Several programs in the Midwest are monitoring him.
“Valpo is starting to show some interest. I have heard from Northern Illinois, UIC, and DePaul.”
