Recruiting Report: 2019 Jack Forrest
One of the top shooters at the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest this past weekend was 2019 Jack Forrest. Jack displayed his high basketball IQ all weekend and showed why he is a great team player. We were able to catch up with him to talk about his game and recruitment. First he touched base with us on how his summer has been.
“Summer has been going well, we started off the first Hoop Group kinda slow but we have won the past five games and are now really in the flow of things and we are playing together which helps everyone look good.”
When asked to describe his game, he said, “I am definitely in the zone when I am at my best and I feel like I can make any shot I take. I really try hard to get my teammates shots and I feel like I can really open the floor with my shooting.
Before he makes his college decision, he has some goals he wants to accomplish this summer, “I definitely want to win every tournament that we are in and I just want to play together as a team and play hard because even if we are playing teams that are better than us, if we just go down with a fight than that is what matters.”
We asked him what schools he feels like are showing him the most interest, he said “Princeton definitely, Columbia and Drexel.”
Princeton is one of the Ivy League schools that he mentioned he is talking to a lot, “There is nothing quite like the Ivy League and something that is very important to me is getting a good education and also getting that good basketball program and Princeton fits both of those categories. They keep telling me that they think I could come in and be a great fit to our team and fit in well with the offense and they believe they could develop me very well.”
Columbia is another Ivy League school that he is hearing from a lot, “They think I could come in and play right away and they think that I could be an impact player for them and that I could really impact their program right away.”
Another school that is showing Jack a good amount of interest is Drexel, “So Drexel is a little different than the Ivy League but it is still a great academic school. I really like the level of basketball and the coaching staff there. They think I could really space the floor well for them.”
When asked when he thinks a commitment could be made, he said, “It depends on what happens but most likely August or September, before the high school season.”
