Recruiting Report: 2019 Donta Scott
One of the more versatile players this past weekend at the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest was 2019 Donta Scott of Philly Pride. Scott is a terrific two way player that can thrive in about any situation you throw him in. He brings great intensity to his team when he is on the court and that really helps him play good defense. He can guard about anyone at any position. On offense, he can play the 1-4. He has experience playing the point guard position during high school, while during AAU, he will play the 2-4. He has had a productive summer, he said.
“My summer has been really good. I have been playing hard and helping get my team a lot of wins.” I have been to a lot of places so it has been really busy. I have met a lot of people and have played against a lot of really good guys so it has been a really productive summer.”
A major part of his summer has been talking to colleges and trying to figure out where he will play college basketball. We asked him what schools he feels like is going the hardest at him and he broke down each one for us.
Florida: “It is really nice out that way, I have not taken any visits out there yet but I know that program is really good.”
South Carolina: “I went there for an unofficial visit and it was really nice. The atmosphere is really nice and I saw their football team play and there were a lot of people there. It was bumper to bumper traffic because there was a lot of people and they have really nice facilities out there.”
Temple: “They are cool, when I can, I like to watch their games and they play good and good ball together.”
LaSalle: “Coach Ash has been on me since he was at Villanova and now he is the head coach at LaSalle and he really wants me. He is a really cool coach. For example, if I ever need something, he will try and give me some knowledge.”
Seton Hall: “I just got that offer. I have not talked to the coach that much but when I have had the chance to talk him he really seems like a cool person and excited to be recruiting me.”
We asked him what he will look at when deciding on a college to attend, “Looking for the education, and the way they can better me as a person and as a player and help me get to the next part of my career which is becoming an NBA player.”
