Recruiting Notebook: Hoop Group Camp
The Hoop Group Chicago Camp presented a great opportunity to see prospects from around the state at a variety of college levels. Here we break down what we learned from a recruiting perspective in our Recruiting Notebook: Hoop Group Camp.
G Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook – 2019)
Current Ranking: #24
Travel Team: Hooopers
Cochran is a big and physical guard that can score at the rim. He says the schools making him a priority right now are Toledo, Western Michigan, and UIC. He took visits to UIC and Toledo in June. Of UIC he said “The main thing was it is in the city. The gym is right next to the dorm and all my classrooms so it is not a big walking distance.” When speaking of Toledo he mentioned “They have really nice new things there with technology. Nice campus and facilities.” Miami (OH), Tulsa, and Missouri State have also been in contact.
SF Terrence Shannon (Woodstock Academy – 2019)
Current Ranking: Top 100 Nationally
Travel Team: Mac Irvin Fire
Shannon was a man among boys at the camp with his size and elite athleticism. He tells us that Florida State and Illinois are really making him feel like a priority. The wing visited both schools in July. Also checked out Louisville, DePaul, and Loyola. Other programs that are showing interest that he would like to see include Georgetown, Wake Forest, St. Louis, and Ohio State. He doesn’t have a timeline for a decision at this stage.

Steward is an elite point guard with slick handles and the ability to score at multiple levels. The elite lead guard told us the schools that are reaching out the most include Louisville, Xavier, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Loyola.
