Q&A: Payton Havens (2019)
Class of 2019 lead guard Payton Havens is a tiny point guard that plays with a ton of grit. The Metamora point guard is a pass first guard that pushes it in transition and makes quick passes. Can make an occasional three point shot. We caught up with Havens in this Q&A!
How was his junior season at Metamora?
“I think it went pretty good. We made school history with the first super sectional appearance. We have most of our people returning so I feel like it can be a good year this year.”
Playing with the Illinois Irish on the circuit, how is that going?
“It is pretty good. I switched AAU teams and have only been with this team for a few tournaments, but we are starting to gel and getting that chemistry.”
What does he bring to the table as a prospect?
“Floor general point guard that can run the team. Effective in transition playing fast. Get people their open shots when they need them.”
What elite camps have you been too?
“I have been to Minnesota State and Columbia College.”
