Prospect Watch: Eli Campbell (2019)
Healthy and ready to have a big season, Minneapolis North guard Eli Campbell spoke with Prep Hoops today about the upcoming season.
Eli missed over half of the Polar games as a junior but he was the team’s third leading scorer at over a dozen a game before being lost to injury. The Polars went 23-6 last year and while they lost some key pieces, Campbell returns along with Omar Brown, Nasir El-Amin, Willie Wilson, and 2021 Davon Townley Jr who was one of the stars of the Breakdown Summer State Tournament nine days ago.
“Coming back this year my role is to be a leader, run the offense and control the game,” Eli explained. “Make sure everybody is doing what they’re suppose to be doing.
For next year I would like to improve my defense and being a better point guard for my team so we can be the most successful we can be.”
Eli is once again playing for the Grassroots Sizzle squad where he’s second on the team in steals and giving the team a backcourt shooter that has made 37 percent of his threes. \
“Some top moments from my 17u season is just going out there and competing and getting better and learning something each game.
“My team and I hope to accomplish more wins than last year and have a spot in for Vegas when we get there.”
Teams that load up heavily on the Sizzle frontcourt or overplay Jalen will have to be aware of #0 at the arc.
