Prospect Spotlight: Kyle Gruhler (2020)
Kyle Gruhler is one of the top shooters in Southern Washington. Coming off of a strong spring and summer with Rose City Rebels 16U and Skyview High School, Gruhler is looking to take the next step entering his junior season.
Standing at 6’4, with long arms and high basketball IQ, Gruhler is a shooter that knows how and where to get his shot off on the floor. After averaging 7.6 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game, on 37% three point shooting, as a sophomore on Skyview’s best team in school history, he is looking forward to the developments that he can make during the offseason. He wants to hit the weight room hard, as he aims to gain about 15 pounds. He also realizes that he must improve his ball handling heading into next year, in order to create for himself off the dribble when the defense plays him tight.
The ability to play in the Tacoma Dome this past season in the WIAA State Tournament was an important experience for Gruhler, who is determined to get back. He says “being able to be on the first ever Skyview team that made it to state was one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me.” Returning to the Dome, as well as making First Team All-GSHL, are his goals for next year.
As far as playing at the next level goes, Gruhler says “I think I could bring some length with the ability to get rebounds and be able to space the floor.” With two years remaining in his high school career, and the character and determination to continue building his skills and body, Kyle Gruhler is someone to keep an eye out for.
