Prospect Spotlight: Jalen Scott (2021)
Paradise Honors will have one of the top teams in the state for 3A. In fact, they will have one of the best teams in the state regardless of classification. While there are some key transfers who get a lot of attention due to the value that they bring, one of the biggest keys to the team’s success is Jalen Scott Jalen Scott 6'3" | PG Paradise Honors | 2021 State AZ .
Scott, a 6’1 2021 PG who plays with Powerhouse 15U, is a solid guard who earned a lot of playing time last year en route to having a big role for Paradise Honors. He is long and crafty while being a capable shooter from deep.
His ability to dictate tempo for Paradise Honors will be pivotal. While having too much talent can be a good problem, teams with a lot of talent need a guard who understands how to facilitate. Scott does this at a high level. He does a good job of putting his teammates in spots where they can contribute.
Scott has a bright future as a 2021 prospect. He will most likely play a key role on a team that could win multiple state titles in the coming years.

Scott has not received any offers at this point. With that said, he is only a 2021 prospect and has a lot of time. However, he claimed that he has received interest from multiple NCAA Division-Is.
In addition to being a skilled guard, Scott noted that he has a 3.0 GPA. That mixture of skill and academics should aid him in being able to play at an array of schools.
In fact, he noted that basketball is important to him, but that attending a high academic school is the top priority. While he values academics, he does not have an idea in regards to what he would like to major in at the college level. He has plenty of time to continue to figure this out.
Scott noted that in order for him to take the next step in his progression that he needs to trim his turnovers. Further, he mentioned that he needs to improve his shot and finishing.
With that said, he is a young prospect who has a lot of talent. His upside is high, and he should consider to improve.

At this point, Scott is an NCAA Division-II or NAIA prospect. While he could earn an NCAA Division-I offer, he would have the most success at a smaller school.
While that is the case at the moment, he is a young prospect with good length. Further, he does a number of things extremely well despite his youth. One area that has stood out to me is his ability to pass the basketball.
He has the potential to play at a higher level, especially if his athleticism and skill set continue to improve. Scott is definitely worth watching and tracking for college coaches at multiple levels.
