Prospect Spotlight: Isaiah Sampson (2019)
Isaiah Sampson is a powerful 6’5 wing that is coming off of a strong season in which he earned a 1st Team All-GSHL selection. After playing spring and summer with Team Fly White and Team Bradley 17U, he is looking forward to showcasing his growth next year.
During his junior season at Camas High School, Sampson averaged 12.6 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game in his first full season playing on the perimeter. The converted post has shown improved perimeter skills as he works to develop his athleticism and three-point shot. Sampson already has a strong midrange and interior game, with nice touch on his shot, as shown through his 81% free throw shooting. His tenacity inside is impressive, and led to him finishing with 6 double-doubles on the season.
Entering his senior year, Sampson wants to impress people with his developed shotmaking and ball handling ability. He has already drawn the attention of several schools, including: Northwest Nazarene University, George Fox University, Lewis and Clark College, and Black Hills State University. As far as what Sampson can bring to a college program, he says, “I know I can bring my ability to score, my toughness, length, and overall IQ of the game.” With a love for being in the gym, it would be safe to bet on Isaiah Sampson having a successful senior season and impressing coaches, just as he aims to do.
