Prep Hoops Summer Challenge: Saturday Standouts (Part I)
Dawson Garcia, 6’10 PF (D1 Minnesota 16U) — 2020
Not only the best prospect we’ve seen this weekend, but one of the best we’ve seen this entire offseason. Garcia was playing intermittently in our viewing of him, but shined brightly when he had the chance. He floats when he jumps, and moves extraordinarily well for a 6’10 guy. What was most striking, is his fluid shot. He sank two free-throws without hardly hitting the net, they were so pure.
Andre Casey, 6’8 F (Meanstreets 14U) — 2022
He’s got all the makings of a future high-major prospect. With great size and a fluid game, he was doing most of the damage in the paint in our viewing, and flashed a pretty spin-move to notch his final bucket of the game. Iowa State and Creighton were both there to see him score a co-team-high 12 points. They must have liked what they saw.
Kam Craft, 6’3 SG (Meanstreets 14U) — 2022
The future Buffalo Grove standout scored a co-team-high 12 points during a win over Iowa Dynasty 15U. His strength is his jumper, when he launches, you expect it to drop. He was also an adept ball-handler and probed the defense well when necessary.
Brennan Timm, 6’3 SF (Wisconsin RAP 15U) — 2021
One of the better offensive halves we’ve seen this weekend belongs to Timm, he dropped 15 in the final 16 minutes during a shellacking of Team Iowa Silver. Timm was scoring from all three levels during his spree, and had his shining moment when he hijacked an Iowa guy in the back-court, stole the ball and raced in to convert a contested lay-in.
Drake Dobbs, 6′ PG (D1 Minnesota 16U)
On a team chock-full of elite, high-level D1 talent, it was Dobbs who was the offensive star against Great Northern Elite. The 6-foot Eden Prairie product came out on fire, canning three early 3s en route to 13 first half points. He finished that one with a game-high 15 points.
Keon Agee, 5’6 PG (Iowa Dynsaty 15U)
He was relentless while attacking the hoop, and even at just 5’6 the Iowa City High product was the high-scorer for his team against Meanstreets 2022. What we liked most is there was no quit in the rising junior’s game, even when down double-digits to the talented Illinois squad, he was going full bore. Agee scores 13 second half points, 15 total.
Will Henricksen, 5’10 G (Team Iowa White 16U) — 2020
There’s been a lot to be learned about this Team Iowa White squad the past two weekends, and today we learned that Henricksen is capable of being one of the more dynamic guards in Iowa’s Class of 2020. Against a tough and athletic Team NOVA unit, Henricksen was the one who shined the brightest for the Iowa team, scoring a game-high 14 points in a narrow loss.
Jack Fricka, 6’3 SF (NOVA Cavaliers 16U) — 2020
During a knock-down, drag-out game against a tough Team Iowa White squad, Fricka was the guy that set the tone early. A tall and wiry wing from West Potomac in Virginia, he scored eight of his team’s 23 first half points, and was showcasing an ability to get it done from anywhere on the court offensively.
