Prep Hoops took in a few days of action here at the Peach State Summer Showcase in Augusta, GA and Aiken, SC. Lets take a look at some players from the Sunshine State who stood out in performance while we were in attendance.

Gianfranco Grafals

Gianfranco “Pipo” Grafals (2019) – Fleming Island HS (Orange Park)  Showtime Ballers Select 17U

Grafals 6’4 is a member of the Puerto Rican National Team. Grafals brings a great toughness to the floor. Grafals always seemed to be around the ball and really liked to get out and attack the rim in transition. Grafals nicknamed “Pipo” averaged 14.1 ppg and 7.7 rebounds at Fleming Island HS. Grafals scored 30 points in the victory over the Arkasas Vipers.

Michael Gavin

Michael Gavin (2019) – Lake Mary Prep – Showtime Ballers Select 17U

Gavin 6’0 point guard was extremely crafty with the ball in his hands all day. Gavin a pure point guard makes his teammates happy for sure with his joy to share the ball. Gavin recorded 10 points and 12 assists in the win over the Arkansas Vipers. Gavin really has great court awareness and a feel for the game. Gavin averaged 10 ppg this past season at Windermere Prep.

Alec Rodriquez (2019) – Belen Jesuit HS (Miami) – South Florida Sharks

Rodriquez 5’11 left-handed point guard is quite crafty with the ball. Rodriquez showed some shake–bake action to basket today. Rodriquez connected on open shots and always seemed to have his teammates in the right position for the pass. Rodriquez plays the game with a blue collar mentality on the floor.

Johni Broome (2020) – Tampa Bay Catholic – E1T1 Heat 2020 (pictured on front)

Broome stood out today with 22 points for E1T1 Heat in a victory over Below the Rim. Broome 6’7 left-handed combo forward finished around the basket along with the mid-range jumper. Broome had a great touch on his shot. Broome told Prep Hoops that he’s transferring to Tampa Bay Catholic this coming season. Broome played at Plant City HS last season.
