Next Level Invite: Saturday Standouts
Andrew Gibb, 6’2 G (All Iowa Attack 17U)
There’s times when we’ve seen Gibb absolutely fill it up, this was one of those times. Every time he touched the ball, he seemed to score. The St. Edmond guard utilizes his great length well, and it’s hard to block his shot when he’s attacking the rim. He scored a game-high 26 points in a win over Wisconsin Shooters.
Nathaniel Mueller, 5’7 PG (Kingdom Hoops 15)
Just wow. He’s definitely one of the most exciting players in Iowa to watch, and he might be the most exciting rising sophomore point guard in the state. He shook his dude and hit a long two to buat the buzzer in the first half. Then he shook another dude and canned a 23-foot 3-ball with his team down two, TO WIN THE GAME. It was very exciting, just like Mueller is.
Connor Becker, 6′ G (Iowa Mavericks 15U)
A well built and skilled combo guard from Maquoketa, Becker is certainly a guy we’ll be keeping a close eye on next tear during his sophomore season. He’s adept with both hands and is a sniper from deep. Look for him to have a breakout sophomore year.
Wes Dreamer, 6’6 SG (Martin Brothers 17U)
The Martin Brothers could’t come away with a win and a Sweet 16 bid, but Dreamer was certainly doing what he could to try and get that W. The Lincoln East (NE) wing was red-hot in the first half against Team Teague, canning three 3s, a couple of them back-to-back. A tall and long wing with a smooth jumper and a knack for banging down in the paint, Dreamer finished with a team-high 19 points.
Hosea Treadwell, 6’2 G (Kingdom Hoops 17U)
Again Treadwell impressed — canned four 3s and scored a team-high 15 points for KH today — he has each and every time we’ve seen him this season. Schools need to start recruiting him hard. He’s got big-time range and a smooth high-arching jumper, but what he’s beginning to excel at is getting into the paint and creating for himself and others, and he Ds up, too. Big things are coming for the Hoover guard.
Evan Gauger, 6’2 G (All Iowa Attack)
I’ve had a couple different college coaches tell me that they think Gauger will blow up soon, and yes, it seems inevitable. Gauger has grown two 6’2 and has always been very skilled. His athleticism has increased along with his height. He could see a flood of offers come in by summer’s end.
Manny Austin, 6′ G (Kingdom Hoops 15U)
The younger brother of Hoover’s Hosea Treadwell, Austin is certainly cut from the same mold. A smooth guard with a sharpshooters mentality, but like his older bro, he’s becoming more and more adept at getting into the lane and creating. Austin scored a co-team-high 11 points in a dramatic win over H.I.T.
Issa Samake, 6’7 F (All Iowa Attack 17U)
In the stands, the word freak was being thrown around on more than one occasion in reference to Samake, and they meant that in the most positive was possible. He’s so long and so athletic that he does some things on the court that are abnormal, freakish. He was doing it on both ends of the court during a win over Wisconsin Shooters.
