Louisiana 2019 Rankings: Top Bigs
Hunter Dean 6’9 PF Lakeshore/ Louisiana Supreme
Dean has proven himself this grassroots season as the top big man prospect in the state for the 2019 class. He is a springy athlete with deceptive athleticism, and is one of the top rim protectors and rebounders of his class. On the offensive end, he can finish lobs high above the rim, but can also space the floor as an above average shooter from deep. He can handle the ball well enough to attack the rim off closeouts, and is pretty skilled for someone his size. He is going to have to get better at both setting ball screens, as well as defending them, which will both come with more experience and reps. His ceiling is sky high, and when he realizes exactly how good he is, he is going to be a steal.
Moses Ngdock 6’8 PF Northshore/ Pro Skills
Ngdock is a really interesting prospect, who has had a rollercoaster of a ride as far as rankings and recruiting goes. Heading into the offseason, we had him ranked as 3rd in the 2019 class, but he has struggled making a big impact for Pro Skills, and as a result has slipped down the rankings. He still has a really interesting skill set for a stretch 4 with high upside on the defensive end. When he is at his best, he plays with a really high motor, and eats up rebounds.
Kam Davis 6’7 PF Louisiana Elite
Boy, what a 12 months it has been for Kam Davis. Just over a year ago, he was coming off a very successful Sophomore season for a really talented Bossier squad. Then he was one of the best players for a super talented Louisiana Elite 16u squad, and ended up earning a SEC offer from Texas A&M. After that, he transferred from Bossier to Southwood, but didn’t finish off the year with them. Now he is playing a role off the bench for Louisiana Elite, and rumor has it that he is considering transferring back to Bossier. Davis plays with a high motor, and is capable of protecting the paint.
Everette “Poppa” Wilson 6’9 C Donaldsonville/ Louisiana Supreme
Of all of the bigs on this list, and in the state Wilson is by far the most traditional, back to the basket center. He is a big bodied center that is best kept around the rim on either end of the floor. He has soft touch around the rim, and is a surprisingly good finisher in the paint out of the post. Defensively, he isn’t much of an athlete, but is a surprisingly good defender in the pick n’ roll, and is a really good rebounder.
Nick Judice 6’8 PF Catholic BR
Judice has always been a stretch 4, but after adding a couple inches to his height over the past year, he has become an interesting prospect at the next level. He is one of the better shooters from deep in the class, especially from the corners, an increasingly valuable skill set. He is capable of putting the ball on the floor for 1-2 dribbles at a time, attacking closeouts. However, for any college coach that is interested, they are going to be competing with baseball. Judice is a D1 prospect with a couple of offers already, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked up some more offers before graduating.
