July Recruiting Recap: Jakobie Robinson (2019)
Jakobie Robinson
6’7 | PF | 2019
Warren Central (IN) | Indiana Elite Fastbreak 2019
Offers: Dodge City C.C.
Where His Recruitment Is At: Things are still very early and likely won’t really get going until the high school season but landing an early JUCO offer at least gives something early on. With high AAU teams play in NYC, LA, and Orlando, it will only allow DI programs to take a hard look at this stage. He’s deserving of those looks and when fully healthy, which has been his issue to this point, he should be at minimum a fit for a DII program. Expect things to be a bit slower until later this Fall and Winter as he gets back to 100%.
Scouting Report: Jakobie is a long, lean forward with a game that is going to provide versatility and upside at the next level. He’s still developing but possesses solid handles and plays very well in transition. Can even take it off the bounce a bit in the half court, although, he is still moving forward in that regard. He’s active down low and can use his length and athleticism on rebounds, tip-ins, and blocked shots. Quick and athletic enough to come out and hedge on the perimeter, defending wings and guards. Has shown the ability to hit a mid-range jumper but it isn’t a strong part of his game. Will need to focus in on more offensive weapons and become a big more consistent but that will be the difference in levels of play, DII or going higher.
