Where His Recruitment Is At: To say Newman has blown would be completely accurate. He now sits with a host of offers from schools in the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East. The latest of which are from Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State. Look for Newman to possible gain a bunch of new interest as he moves from Valparaiso (IN) to Montverde Academy in Florida. New connections with the coaching staff could bring a bit of new interest to watch. However, one would expect the Big Ten schools to probably have a leg up as his game is made for that league and geographically, would bring him back closer to home.
Scouting Report: Brandon is a big wing who can handle the ball and likely will play the 2/3. He’s really good with the ball in his hands as he can create on the perimeter with a good jumper and then put it on the floor and drive with quickness for his size. Has a great frame and could become a high end scorer in Midwest. Defensively, he provides some versatility with his body to defend inside and out with guards and wings. As the jumper has proven to be a stable skill, his upside could be solid and his performance, even at the the highest level of college basketball, should be really productive.
