JAYHAWK: Kansas’ Stock Risers (PGs)
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The 2018 Jayhawk Summer Finale completed play on Sunday with a host of standout performances.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the premier players and performances from Kansas’ talent.
13 — Trey Quarlebaum, 6’2, PG, 2019, Lawrence, KC Run GMC 17U
Quarlebaum has been on our radar since his sophomore season at Lawrence and has taken his game to new heights this offseason with KC Run GMC 7U squad. He is a solid leader at the point guard position, playing the game with poise and confidence. He is a capable defender, can get into the lane and make plays off the bounce and is developing into a knock down shooter. He picked up his first offer from. Texas Arlington in May.
1 — Trey Reid, 6’1, PG, 2020, Maize South, NLHA 16U Gaddis
Reid is an emerging point guard prospect who brings good size and athleticism to the floor and solid basketball IQ and leadership. He handles the ball well under pressure and can knock down open shots from beyond the 3-point arc.
5 — Sylvester Union, 5’7, PG, 2020, Olathe North, KC Run GMC 16U Red
Union is a tough point guard who plays with a low center of gravity, is quick and did a good job throughout the weekend playing tough-as-nails on-ball defense. He does a terrific job pressuring the ball and is capable of forcing turnovers. At the offensive end of the floor, he takes care of the ball and uses his quickness to get to the basket and make plays.
23 — Earnest Wash, 5’11, PG, 2021, Derby, NLHA 15U Perez
Wash is a physical specimen who brings elite quickness and athleticism to the floor. He combines those physical attributes with a big motor and plenty of toughness, especially at the defensive end of the floor where he harasses opposing ball handlers, forces turnovers and gets out in the open floor where he makes plays. Wash is a good finisher in traffic and does a good job of pushing the pace of play.
