JAYHAWK: Kansas’ Stock Risers (Guards)
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The 2018 Jayhawk Summer Finale completed play on Sunday with a host of standout performances.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the premier players and performances from Kansas’ talent.
21 — Chance Headley, 6’3, G, 2019, Clearwater, KS MTXE 17U Navy
Headley is a solid, all-around performer who can do a little bit of everything well. He can handle it, is a crafty playmaker and can get into the lane. Headley also does a good job of moving away from the ball and freeing himself up for easy baskets in the paint.
24 — Jacob Karsak, 6’2, G, 2020, Derby, KS MTXE 16U (pictured)
Karsak has good size for a guard and can knock down 3-pointers, helping spread the floor for his team. Karsak also does a good job moving away from the ball and likes the mid-range game where he showed this weekend the ability to elevate and knock down jumpers. He has a good nose for the ball and is a good rebounder and defender.
3 — Isaiah Mayo, 6’2, G, 2021, Lawrence, KC Run GMC 15U
Mayo has a smooth, quick release from distance and is terrific perimeter shooter with range. He showed this weekend he can handle the ball a little and get to the basket as well as he took the ball the length of the floor in transition and created some offense off the bounce. He is long and slender and still has room to grow physically.
8 — Eric McGregor, 6’3, 2019, Life Prep, KS MTXE 17U Navy
McGregor has good size and is an athletic guard who can play above the rim, handle the ball and get to the basket. McGregor has put together a strong off season competing with MTXE and that continued throughout the weekend in Overland Park as he did a good job putting points on the board and defending opposing guards.
