JAYHAWK: Kansas’ Stock Risers (Guards)
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The 2018 Jayhawk Summer Finale completed play on Sunday with a host of standout performances.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the premier players and performances from Kansas’ talent.
24 — Cade McGaugh, 6’3, G, 2019, Maize, Missouri Flight
McGaugh put together a big weekend for an undermanned Flight team as he continues to impress this summer. McGaugh is a shot maker and shot creator with terrific range out beyond the 3-point arc. He can handle it well and shoot off the dribble with ease, or get all the way to the basket.
10 — Jordan Vincent, 6’3, G, 2021, Eisenhower, KC Run GMC
Vincent has gotten his chance with the KC Run GMC elite squad and has taken advantage of it, showing the ability to play tough physical defense and showing he can rebound well for a guard. Vincent has the ability to put the ball on the floor a little and create his own shot. Vincent has good size for a guard and isn’t afraid of physical play.
KT Raimey, 6’3, PG, 2020, Olathe North, KC Run GMC
Raimey continues to impress this offseason and has shown the ability to play either guard spot. He is slender, but has elite quickness and a strong first step and is difficult for opposing teams to keep out of the paint. He has terrific form and balance on his perimeter shot and a quick release.
11 — Deon’ta Tinker, 6’3, G, 2018, Life Prep, KS MTXE 17U Navy
Tinker is a terrific athlete who can throw down dunks and is tough to contain in transition where he attacks the basket relentlessly. He is a creative finisher in the lane and showed he can knock down 3-pointers with a smooth left handed shooting stroke. Tinker is a scrappy defender who plays hard at both ends of the floor.
