Hoops On The Beach: Day 4 Standouts
Over in Cancun, Mexico, the International Basketball Training Hoops On The Beach tournament wrapped up on Sunday with the finals.
At the Kuchil Baxal gym, games with international talent were played including three sets of Florida teams compiled by IBT head trainer Carlos Morales Jr.
Here is a look at the top performers from Day 4 of the event.
ICYMI:
Nicholas Dalton (Alphas 19U)
Big and tough, Nicholas Dalton draws contact inside and is a good free throw shooter. His finishes are sometimes erratic but his raw athleticism could pan out. Dalton is long and willing to put in the effort on both ends of the floor.
Jouldan Velez (Team Florida 17U/Master’s)
Confidence was on Jouldan Velez’s side here on Sunday. The 2020 point guard was making jump shots with ease, pushing the floor and dishing out good passes. At Master’s, Velez will be tasked with taking over the vocal point man spot from UMBC commit Jose Placer.
Khalyl Simmons (Team Florida 17U/Inspire Prep)
2020 Inspire Prep guard Khalyl Simmons was hitting at a high clip on Sunday. Routinely knocking down 3’s from the top of the key and from the corners, it was clear that Simmons was on his game. Simmons was active in transition all day long and hard to stop.
Tablada Wral (Ahmadiyya Belize 17U)
Although all of his attacks didn’t work, Tablada Wral was getting boards and putting them back. He has quick feet and came back from a tough fall on his head early in the game. Wral battled against Team Florida 17U in the finals loss.
Joshua Blazquez (Team Florida 15U/Osceola)
A highly skilled ballhandler, Joshua Blazquez was finishing with his flexible arms and speed. He continues to impress and plays with endless confidence. He’s a 2021 point guard who needs to be monitored moving forward at Osceola.
