GASO WICHITA: Opening Night Standouts
The opening night of the Great American Shootout (GASO) Midwest event got underway on Thursday in Wichita with a host standout performances.
Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several standouts from the event.
1 — Makiah Wade, 6’4, PG, 2018, Next Level Prep, NLHA
One of several 2018 prospects who stood out on Thursday, Wade is a big guard with terrific size and a high basketball IQ for a point guard. He handles it well, defends well, and has the ability to get to the basket and finish. Wade also has a smooth, repeatable 3-point shooting stroke and has the ability to help his team get into its offense and plays with poise.
3 — Clayton Bradley, 6’5, G/F, 2019, Wichita, KM Elite
Bradley has good size and a solid, all-around skill set as he showed he can handle the ball, make plays and get to the basket. He played a lot in the paint defensively on Thursday as one of his team’s bigger players and showed the ability to hold his own against opposing post players. Bradley played on the ball a lot at the offensive end of the floor, getting his team in its sets and showcasing a high basketball IQ as well as the ability to put his head down and get to the basket.
24 — Jacob Weber, 6’2, G/F, 2019, Winfield, River City Black
Kid brings a ton of energy and activity to the floor. He hustles, passes the ball well and plays an aggressive brand of basketball. A strong athlete, Weber is blessed with an athletic frame and decent size. He missed some easy chances in a contest on Thursday against the Oklahoma Wolfpack, but showed the ability to knock down the 3 and get to the basket.
33 — Joe Petrakis, 6’9, F/C, 2018, Valley Center, KS MTXE Navy
A graduated senior Petrakis showed why he is among the state’s most underrated prospects from the 2018 class as he went for 18 points in the opening game on Thursday for KA MTXE Navy. Petrakis has terrific size and agility and has terrific hands, a soft shooting touch and the ability to move his feet defensively.
40 — Tyler Kahmann, 6’3, G/F, 2019, Haysville, KS MTXE Navy
Kahmann brings a solid, all-around game and skill set to the floor. He likes to put the ball on the floor and showed off a terrific inside-outside game and excelled at the ability to attack the basket and get to the free throw line.
