Game Overview: Powerhouse Hoops UAA
This weekend is jam packed with high caliber basketball, whether it’s at the Las Vegas Classic (Bigfoot) or the Fab 48 Tournament. One of the teams that are a must watch is Powerhouse Hoops UAA team. This is Powerhouse’s main team that play on the Under Armour Circuit. This team is very well-rounded and does a lot of things well. However, I was especially impressed with three young men, Majok Deng, Otis Frazier, and Jackson Ruai (the latter two came off of the bench).
Location: Bigfoot Las Vegas Classic (Spring Valley High School)
Opponent: Aussie Prospects
While Otis Frazier and Jackson Ruai came off of the bench, the two did not waste any time as they were subbed in fairly early in the first half.
Frazier went off this game! He went 6-8 from deep and finished with a very impressive 23 points. Frazier also looked solid on the other side of the ball, racking in two blocks.
Ruai scored a nice 14 points off of the bench but did work defensively. Ruai has 2 blocks, 2 steals, and two forced turnovers off of the 5 count.
Deng was a monster in the full-court press. Majok used his length to deflect passes and then corral them in. He was also impressive offensively, as he usually is, demonstrating his improved three ball and attacking ability.
Powerhouse Hoops UAA did best when the three were all on the court together due to their athleticism, length, and defensive capability. The three were an absolute nightmare on the full-court press.
At half, the score was 33-22.
In the second half is when Frazier turned it on and shot the lights out. Other than that, it was more of the same. The Aussie Prospects really struggled to get the ball across half court and struggled to score the ball. It was a great defensive showing by Powerhouse Hoops UAA.
Final score 64-44.
