Delvin White adds North Carolina A&T offer
Briarcrest Christian’s 2020 shooting guard Delvin White picked up his fourth Division 1 offer on Saturday. North Carolina A&T is the latest school to offer White, who has had one heck of a summer picking up offers before AAU basketball ends.
White picked up two other offers during the summer. Texas Southern University and Mississippi Valley State University offered White. UT-Martin was the first school to offer White after his sophomore season ended at Hamilton High School.
White, who’s 6-foot-2 ½ and weigh 155-pounds, can play positions 1-4, but will spend a lot of his playing time on the court with the Saints at shooting guard under head coach John Harrington. Point guard Kennedy Chandler will be the team’s primary ball handler.
White is long and athletic, and can defend multiple positions. In the Jerry Peters Memphis Summer Classic, White made 18 of 28 shots from the free throw line, and finished with 23 rebounds and 10 assists. In four of the Briarcrest Christian’s six games, White scored in double figures. He had 10 points against Melrose, 10 against MBA, 12 against Center Hill, and 13 against Hillsboro.
White isn’t quite the sniper he needs to be to stand out amongst the rest of the shooting guards in the 2020 class, but his ability to drive to the basket makes him a nightmare matchup for defenders.
Harrington mentioned to White following the end of the classic to work on his jump shot over the summer. It remains to be seen if White has done so. People will find out whether or not White has improved on his outside shooting once the 2018-19 season starts.
If White finds consistency on the perimeter, the Saints will be tough to beat.
