Big Shots CLT: Class of 2019 Standouts
WCBA 2019 Guard Elijah Shabazz: Another player that we got the chance to see play well during his high school team camp season. One of the attributes that I really like about Elijah is his size at the guard position, he’s 6’3 ish which allows him to see over the defense without much of an issue. Another attribute you have to like about him is how he impacts the games in multiple ways, if his shot is not falling, then he will find other ways to make an impact such as rebounding and facilitating.
Flight 22 2019 Guard Talton Jones: One of the biggest sleepers in the region, Jones continues to play at a high level and turns the heads of college coaches at the LM and MM level. Scoring, passing, and defending are all things that he does very well and we feel can translate to the next level, his shooting for is a bit unorthodox but as of late he’s been knocking down shots at a solid rate.
Southside Ballers 2019 Wing Toyaz Solomon: 6’5 with a very long wingspan, he brings a scorers mentality to the team which is the same thing we saw from him during the high school season but on a smaller scale. The next step for him is efficiency, schools at the next level will want him to be able to put up big time numbers but with fewer FGA, overall there is a lot to like about him and he’s one to keep an eye on.
Flight 22 2019 Wing BJ McLaurin: This was our first time seeing BJ with this team but it seemed as if he fit in very well. He moves well without the ball, sets good screens, and knocks down shots at a solid rate when the opportunity presents itself. What we really like was his aggression to attack the basket, we know he can knock down shots but when he’s aggressive, he forces defenders into foul trouble.
Flight 22 (Fayetteville) 2019 Forward William Onyeodi: He recently made the move over to Flight 22 Fayetteville and has hit the ground running. Scoring and rebounding is where he makes his highest impact, schools at the D2 and D3 level are the most active on him right now, he could fit in well with the right school that can play the 6’5 Forward as a stretch forward and even wing in some situations.
Flight 22 (Fayetteville) 2019 Guard EJ Bethea: Good height for a guard at about 6’3, he can score the ball well which was on full display, especially in their championship game matchup where he went for double digits in a close game.
