AZ Club players to watch: Boujee Squad
The Boujee Squad basketball club has made the rounds in Arizona at summer basketball tournaments. Here are some players to look out for:
- Brent Joshevama is proficient at dribbling into traffic and maneuvering his body to finish at the rim and draw fouls. His long arms sometimes surprise the players he is guarding, and he can come up with steals or deflections when opponents are not looking out for it. He plays a big-man role on a team that has few taller players.
- Tyren Curley has a pretty consistent Euro step that he can use to open himself up for lay ups on offense, and shows some ability to hit jump shots. He is not overly quick on his feet on defense, but always seems to hustle and get into the right spots to make scoring difficult for his opponents.
- Demetrius Daw is a prototypical “Three-and-D” player for the Boujee Squad, needing little time with the ball to make an impact on the offensive end because of his ability to hit shots from range. He also seems to thrive in on-ball defense, moving his feet well to make drives to the basket tough.
- Taj Laughter plays a lot with this team as the ball-dominant guard, preferring to make plays for his teammates before looking for his own shot, something Boujee needs with plenty of good cutters. He also boxes out well and gets to the right spots to collect defensive rebounds, despite not having a large body.
