AZ Club players to watch: AZ Warriors
The AZ Warriors basketball club has made its presence felt at several club basketball tournaments around Arizona this summer. Here are few players to look out for moving forward:
- Tommie Lingruen-Thain does a lot of the handling for this team, which seems to have its most efficient offense when he has the ball in his hands, making plays for himself and others. He makes good passes to open up teammates for baskets and threes, and, when he does not settle for jumpers, can get to the rim pretty well with the ball.
- Russ Lingruen-Thain, like his brother, is a big fixture on the Warriors squad, and both hustle and play efficient on-ball defense. While Tommie plays on the ball, Russ can definitely handle, but he makes more of a mark off the ball with smart cuts to the basket and good work around screens to open himself up for jumpers.
- Delano Watson provides a big body for the Warriors on the block, especially on defense. He gets in the way of attacking offensive players at the rim and contests a lot of shots when he is locked in. As a big man, he does not play a traditional post position, preferring to face the basket and pop out for jumpers off solid screens.
- Noah Wolfcale‘s shooting skills open up the floor for the rest of the team, not allowing other squads to draw too far in on the Warriors’ quality dribblers. Especially from the corner, he cannot be left open too often or he will make the opposing team pay with three points.
