Adidas Three Stripes (Class of 2021 Point/Combo Guards)
Here is a look at the top Class of 2021 point/combo guards from last weekend’s Adidas Three Stripes at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO;
Brendan Deters 6’1″ Gateway 15U
Talented young point guard from Troy who can facilitate the offense and play off the ball with equal effectiveness. He can handle the ball through tight spots and get in the lane to make the right pass. He can also score as he knocked down a number of 3-pointers off the catch or coming off screens. He has slick handles and good passing ability.
Jeremiah Walker 6’1″ Brad Beal Elite 15U
A talented combo guard from DeSmet who has good size and athletic ability and he uses those attributes to get buckets. He got to the basket and scored on layups, floaters and twisting drives to score.
Thomas Redmond 6’4″ STL Rising Stars 15U
A versatile combo guard from DeSmet with a fine all-around skill set and high basketball IQ. I was very impressed with his ability to pass the ball and get buckets from several areas on the floor. He shoots the ball well from distance and can get buckets on the drive.
Gary Ford, Jr. 5’9″ Ramey-Jets United 15U
Very solid pass first point guard from Webster Groves who did a good job of organizing the offense and playing strong defense on the ball. He also knocked down several key 3-pointers when he was left open.
Blake Fowler 5’9″ Semo Bulls 15U
An impressive young bucket-getter from Campbell High, he did a nice job of scoring from all three levels. He can create his own shot on offense and knocked down a number of 3-pointers.
Recko Bailey 5’8″ Gateway 15U
An energetic point guard from Vashon who played a big role in his team getting to the championship game. He caused all kinds of problems for opposing defenses with his ability to penetrate and get into the lane. He was always probing the defense with his quickness. He was also a pest on the defensive end.
Marlon Owens 5’7″ Ramey-Jets United 15U
A quick little point guard from McCluer North who was very effective at both ends of the court. He is good offensively with his ability to penetrate in the lane for buckets and knock down 3-pointers. He also likes to stay in your business on the defensive end with his quickness.
Cole Farrell 6’3″ Brad Beal Elite 15U
A nice sized combo guard from DeSmet who has good athleticism to go along with that size. He also displayed a nice little burst when he wanted to get into the lane. He has a good pull-up jumper in which he got some impressive elevation
Ethan Lattimore 5’9″ Larry Hughes Basketball Academy 15U
A solid young point guard from Vianney who handles the ball well against pressure and can deliver excellent passes on the move. In addition to being a good facilitator, Ethan can knock down open 3-pointers. I like his poise.
Wunya Brown 5’9″ Arsenal Hoops 15U
A quick point guard from St. Mary’s who displayed some nice offensive ability in the two games I watched. He could shoot the ball well from 3-point range, plus he displayed some nifty escape moves to create shots off the dribble and he made his share of them.
